To prevent corona infection, the lockdown by the Government of India has been extended till May 17 but at the same time districts across the country are divided into red, orange and green zones.  Permission has been given by the government to start selling and delivery of non-essential goods in Orange and Green zones, including smartphones.

The lockdown has been extended to May 17 by the Indian government to prevent corona infection and districts across the country are divided into red, orange and green zones.  According to the guidelines, e-commerce portals in Orange and Green Zones can now start selling non-essential goods too.  That is, now the sale of smartphones is also going to start in India after a long break.  Apart from this, retailers can also open shops following the guidelines in some cities.

No permission in red zone

It has been clearly stated that there will be no movement in the Red Zone and only medical emergency and delivery of essential goods will be allowed.  This relief is not only for e-commerce sites Flipkart and Amazon but also for the common people.  Sales of smartphones to electronics account for 90 percent of all e-commerce sites during lockdown.  Efforts are being made to bring the market and economy back on track by allowing companies with certain conditions.

Sale will also be offline

Red zone districts in which companies have not received delivery and sales permits are big markets.  These cities include Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune, Bangalore and Ahmedabad.  These red zone districts hold 50 to 60 per cent of the companies.  Apart from this, the ministry has also given permission to open some shops in the Green and Orange zones and these include smartphone retailers.  In this way, customers can also buy smartphones from offline stores.
